My name is Abigail Laub.
I am a woman of color and an immigrant. My educational experience in Guyana is one that is universally common. My teachers represented authority in the classroom. Children, myself included, respected that authority as part of the norm for fear of punishment. It was this experience that planted the seeds for wonderings and inspiration. The following questions pondered in my thoughts throughout the years. What would learning look like when children are encouraged to use their voices with confidence knowing that their words would be valued? How does the dynamics in the classroom shift when children become global citizens and generate stories and ideas that are true to their environment and cultural upbringing?

Abby and the Bicycle Race
10-year Abby, loves riding her blue BMX bicycle. She has many scars on her knees from the many hours she spent learning how to ride her bicycle. While having fun and eating delicious food at a Fair in her village, Abby heard these words on a loud speaker, “If you have a bicycle, please join us at the starting line for the bicycle race!” These words changed everything for Abby.
Words From My Insight timer Listeners.
This bedtime story is very heart warming and encouraging. Abi wrote with much heart drawing from her childhood memories. I liked the fun and happiness puppy brought to Abi and her family. I especially liked the church participation of puppy adding her voice to the choir. What a talented dog! I was sadden by her being lost but happy that she was found the next day. Please note, Guyana is a tropical country with a hot/wet type of climate. Pets are not indoors all the time but allowed to roam freely around the yard. I like this bedtime story of puppy and have no hesitation recommending it for your kids.

My 7yo daughter loves this meditation so much. She has rewritten it word-for- word in her notebook several times and she now uses the phrase “hello my gorgeous love”. The meditation bring her such peace and joy. The meditation is a mix of story and meditation. It gently guides the listener into relaxation with a sweet take. It combines whimsy, care and respect for growing minds, in the narrators tone and in the story. We listen to this meditation almost every night. We are grateful to have found it.

The beauty of the Earth, with all it’s wonders, speaks softly of the hands of the divine creator. Abi’s meditation reflects on its nurturing embrace of humanity. She pays homage to her loving mother and draws strength from those who came before her. Her beloved daughter will carry on this cycle of life, trusting in the unseen yet ever-present creator. I recommend this meditation to anyone seeking a deeper connection with their roots and the nurturing love of a mother.
